If you are permanently domiciled in Africa, Birmingham Business School is offering scholarships of up to 40% of your tuition fee. Awards will be made on the basis of academic excellence as assessed from your course application.

The University of Birmingham is pleased to announce the Postgraduate Outstanding Achievement award of £4,000 for select Bangladesh students applying for entry to a postgraduate programme at the University starting September 2024.

These are joint awards with our local representatives who will be invited to send nominations of the students to the university based on their academic scores and Scholarship Statement of Purpose.

The scholarships will be awarded to the highest performing students starting their University of Birmingham programme in the 2024/2025 academic year.

Value of Award

The scholarship is £4,000 towards tuition fees of a full-time postgraduate degree programme at the University of Birmingham UK campus, starting September 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible, candidates must:

• Have received an offer and selected the University of Birmingham as their firm choice for a full-time postgraduate programme starting September 2024. The student must be entering the first year of postgraduate programme based at Birmingham’s UK campus.

• Meet the academic conditions of their offer to the programme.

• Be classed as domiciled in Bangladesh.  

• Be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes and be able to pay the outstanding tuition fees not covered by the scholarship.

• Have paid their £2,000 deposit by the deadline stated in their offer letter from Admissions Office (note the recipient of the full scholarship will be able to request and receive a refund of their deposit payment after enrolment).

• Have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of living at the University of Birmingham, plus any visa/travel expenses associated with studying in the UK.

• Start their studies at the University in September 2024 (the scholarship award may not be deferred).

• Be registered with, and have their postgraduate study application attached to, one of our local representatives listed below in alphabetical order.

• Submit your scholarship application through one of our local representatives by the deadline; 31 May 2024.

• Upon enrolment in September 2024, pay their net tuition fees for the academic year by 1 November, immediately following enrolment.

As part of our work to make the College of Arts and Law more accessible to students from all backgrounds, we are thrilled to be able to award 10 scholarships in the form of £3,000 for year one entry only towards your tuition fee payments for students applying for entry to an undergraduate programme starting September 2024. • Be self-funding and have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of living at the University of Birmingham, plus any visa/travel expenses associated with studying in the UK.

Engineering International Achievement Scholarship, for international undergraduate School of Engineering students, enables you to be recognised and rewarded for your excellent academic achievements before arriving as a student at the University of Birmingham.

The Engineering International Achievement Scholarship consists of £1500 fee waiver during year 1 semester 1 for all students who meet the criteria below.

To be eligible for this award you must: 

Obtain the following results or equivalent in other qualification systems

• A Levels: AAB to include mathematics for incoming BEng students. AAA to include mathematics for incoming MEng students

• IB: 6, 6, 5 from Higher Levels

• HKDSE: 5, 5, 4

• Indian Standard XII: Overall: 80% ISC, CBSE, Maharashtra; or 75% West Bengal; or 85% Other State board

• Malaysia - One of the following:

The allocation of the award will be made based on academic excellence and a willingness to support the University in promoting the courses and facilities through volunteering whilst studying at the University.

By accepting the award, the scholar will agree to support the University by helping with future student visits, being available for testimonials/ photos/videos for marketing purposes and engaging in other activities such as blogging (if required).

In order to be eligible, candidates must:

What is the Global Masters Scholarship

With a value of £2,000 per scholarship, this award is available to all international students from a selection of countries who are seeking to study a taught Masters degree at Birmingham in the 2024/25 academic year. Eligible scholars who successfully meet the criteria will have this amount deducted from their total tuition fees owed.

Who is eligible for a Global Masters Scholarship?

In order to be eligible, candidates must meet the following requirements. You must:

• Have applied for, and receive an offer of admission for, a taught Masters degree at the University of Birmingham UK campus, to study in the 2024/25 academic year.

• Be classed as ‘domiciled’ in one of the selected countries. Please see the list below.

• Be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes.

• Start your studies at the University in September/ October 2024 on a full-time course delivered at the University's UK campus.

Are there any programmes not eligible?

• If you decide to defer your programme start date to September 2025, you will no longer be eligible as the scholarship is only available for programmes starting in September 2024.

• Students seeking to study on a course solely delivered as a ‘distance learning’ programme are not eligible for this scholarship.

• Students applying for programmes in the Birmingham Business School are not eligible for this scholarship but are eligible for other separate MSc and MBA scholarships offered by the Business School. 

• Students applying for programmes in the School of Computer Science are not eligible for this scholarship.

• Undergraduate programmes including the MBChB, MEng, MSci and MPharm undergraduate programmes are not eligible.

• Postgraduate programmes including MPhil, MRes, MMus and MLit are not eligible. PGDip and PGCert programmes are also not eligible.

• Students studying the University of Birmingham Dubai campus are not eligible for this scholarship.

Additional Scholarship Conditions

• Successful recipients of the scholarships must have completed online registration and be ‘Normally Registered’ by 3 October (23:59 UK time/ GMT+1). If this is not the case, the university will withdraw the scholarship.

• If a scholarship recipient withdraws from their academic programme of study at the University the scholarship will also be fully withdrawn, and the student will be required to pay any tuition fees owed. The date of the withdrawal (as reported to Taught Student Administration) and the type of programme will determine the amount of tuition fee that will be owed.

• If a scholarship recipient decides to defer their programme start date to September 2024, they will no longer be eligible as the scholarship is only available for programmes starting in September 2024.

• Students seeking to study on a course solely delivered as a ‘distance learning’ programme are not eligible for this scholarship.

• Undergraduate programmes including the MBChB, MEng, MSci and MPharm are not eligible.

Terms and Conditions

• £3,000 per annum will be awarded to successful applicants. Scholarships are not paid directly to successful applicants but will take the form of a fee reduction at the beginning of the programme.

• To retain the scholarship students must gain a minimum of a 2:1 (60%+) in each year of study. Should these grades not be achieved, the scholarship will be withdrawn for the remainder of the programme.

• Students on the Law with French Law or Law with German Law programmes will receive scholarship payments in years 1, 2 and 4 assuming all conditions are met.

• Scholarships are available to all privately funded international students categorised as overseas for fees purposes.

• Scholarships are only available for students beginning their programme in September 2024 and cannot be deferred.

• Students in receipt of support from other funding bodies which wholly cover their tuition are not eligible.

• Decisions will be announced by late July and the scholarships will be awarded upon the students’ enrolment in September 2024.

• Candidates must have submitted the scholarship application form by 30 April 2023 (23:59 UK time) to be considered for the award.

• In accepting and securing this scholarship, awardees are expected to support the University, to a reasonable extent, by providing profiles testimonials and engaging in ambassadorial activities if requested by the University.

Don’t let fees stand in the way of your studies. We have a number of scholarships for students on our MBA programmes, providing a financial contribution towards your tuition fees. Our scholarships are allocated on a case-by-case basis to outstanding applicants.

The value of the award is merit-based and depends on the quality of the application and the applicant.

These scholarships are open to both UK, EU and International Students. Assessment will be made based on a candidate’s MBA application, CV, and Personal Statement. A rolling assessment process will be in place throughout the application cycle.

The School of Geography, Earth, and Environmental Sciences is pleased to announce the launch of a prestigious scholarship scheme open to India domiciled students coming to the School for a full time Undergraduate programme or a full time taught Master’s degree programme starting in September 2024 at the Edgbaston campus.

The scheme offers a £2,000 discount on tuition fees. In the case of undergraduate students, this is for the first year of the programme only. This is an exceptional opportunity for students from India to study programmes in Geography, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Urban and Regional Planning, and Public and Environmental Health. • Have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of living at the University of Birmingham, plus any visa/travel expenses associated with studying in the UK.

• Candidates must, upon enrolment in September 2024, pay their net tuition fees for the year by 1 November, immediately following enrolment.

Additional Scholarship Conditions

• Successful recipients of the scholarships must have completed online registration and be ‘Normally Registered’ by 3 October (23:59 UK time/ GMT+1). If this is not the case, the School may withdraw the scholarship.

• If a scholarship recipient withdraws from their academic programme of study at the University the scholarship will also be withdrawn, and the student will be required to pay any tuition fees owed. The date of the withdrawal (as reported to Taught Student Administration) and the type of programme will determine the amount of tuition fee that will be owed.

• If a scholarship recipient decides to defer their programme start date, they will no longer be eligible for the award.

• Students seeking to study on a course solely delivered as a ‘distance learning’ programme are not eligible for this scholarship.

• GEES programmes in Dubai are not eligible for this scholarship.

• In accepting and securing this scholarship, awardees are expected to support the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and the University, to a reasonable extent and for a reasonable period of time, by being willing to provide profiles, testimonials and engaging in ambassadorial activities for the School and University.
